  We have proudly insured the bridge since the 18th century through various different builds, reflecting a long-standing partnership with the City of London Corporation and a deep understanding of its operational and heritage requirements. The bridge houses a rifle range for the Stock Exchange Rifle Club, and we have worked closely with the Corporation to ensure the safe storage of ammunition, including assessing volume, secure containment, and fireproof measures to prevent any risk of explosion. This showcases our expertise in specialist risk management, balancing safety with the operational needs of an active facility within a historic structure.
  The bridge is also illuminated at night, enhancing its iconic presence. In 2023, some lighting equipment was stolen, but we acted swiftly to replace it, ensuring it continues to shine brightly. This demonstrates our ability to provide practical, rapid-response solutions that protect heritage assets while maintaining functionality and cultural value.

Interesting facts
1. A bridge through time
  London Bridge has stood as a vital crossing of the River Thames since Roman times, with the first stone bridge built around 50 AD. The medieval bridge, completed in 1209, was a bustling commercial hub lined with houses, shops, and a chapel. Over the centuries, it endured damage from fires - including during the Great Fire of London in 1666 - and multiple collapses, inspiring the nursery rhyme “London Bridge is Falling Down.” The 19th-century stone bridge eventually became too narrow for modern traffic and was sold in 1968, dismantled, and shipped to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, brick by brick.

2. Modern engineering
  The current London Bridge, constructed between 1967 and 1972, features eight hollow reinforced concrete boxes forming its three spans, supported by piers anchored deep into the river clay. Designed by Harold Knox King with architects Mott, Hay & Anderson and William Holford & Partners, the bridge was built to accommodate modern traffic and urban demands while maintaining a clear connection to its historical lineage.
