Supporting the Armed Forces and Civic Institutions
We proudly support the Armed Forces through a range of initiatives, including the Lord Mayor’s curry lunch - an annual event where the Lord Mayor hosts a meal to honour service members.
This partnership reflects our deep commitment to civic and national institutions, particularly within the City of London Corporation. Events at venues such as Guildhall often carry elevated risks when hosting dignitaries, heads of state, or royalty. We provide tailored cover to manage these exposures - addressing physical exposures, reputational risks amplified by social media, and wider threats such as protests or vandalism.
Our ability to adapt to these complex, high-profile environments demonstrates why we remain a trusted partner to the Corporation and other prestigious institutions.
Guildhall has stood at the heart of the City of London for over 800 years, serving as the headquarters of the City of London Corporation. Built over a Roman amphitheatre dating back to AD 70, it has long been a centre of governance, ceremony, and justice. The Great Hall, completed in 1440, is the only secular stone building from before the Great Fire of 1666 still standing in the City.
Today, Guildhall remains the setting for major civic occasions, including the annual Lord Mayor’s Banquet, where the Prime Minister traditionally delivers a national address. The wider complex includes the post-war North and West Wings, designed by Giles Gilbert Scott and his son, and the Guildhall Art Gallery, opened in the 1990s, where part of the Roman amphitheatre can still be viewed.
The City of London Corporation continues to preserve Guildhall’s historic integrity while adapting it for modern use - enhancing access, sustainability, and community engagement. Guildhall endures as a symbol of London’s civic pride, resilience, and continuity through the ages.
